Gymboree: A Fun Place to Learn | The Momma Chronicles
I learned about Gymboree a few years ago from my cousin. She decided to enroll her daughter in play class where the kids can play and have fun and at the same time, learn something new. I also have another cousin who enrolled her daughter in the Play, Music and Art class, also in Gymboree. So when it was my time to be a mom, I decided to give it a try.
Gymboree has different classes to choose from. From Play and Learn, Music, Art, Sports and even Preschool, they have it all. And the good thing about them is that they have programs appropriate for each age group.
I enrolled my daughter in a Play and Learn class. They were taught concepts such as soft and hard and even have activities that encourage kids to walk on their own. Kids were also encouraged to uncover patterns and sequences. Of course, there are songs too which they can sing (or even dance) along with the teacher.

Bubbles time, my daughter’s favorite part of the class.

Parachute time
I also tried the Music class unfortunately, my daughter didn’t like it at that time. So the teacher recommended that I should just stick with the play class since my daughter has too much energy, it’s hard to contain it in the room 😀

And my daughter ended u p running around the room.
I only know a few play schools that offer the same programs. However, here are some of the things I love about Gymboree.
- Their activities are age-appropriate. Each class has a level that categorizes kids according to their age. Consequently, the activities are designed according to the capabilities and level of maturity of the children enrolled.
- The teachers are really nice, patient and very understanding. Imagine a class full of crying kids. Chaotic is not even enough to describe that. But Gymboree teachers are very patient. Although they encourage the kids to participate in the activities, they don’t force them when the kids don’t want to.
- They have trial classes. Teachers don’t recommend outright enrollment of kids. In fact, they advise parents to sit-in first so they can gauge whether the program is beneficial and appropriate for the kids or not. Although trial classes comes with a fee, it will be deducted once you decide to enroll your tot.
- They really supervise. Aside from the teacher and the parents inside the play area, there are also teacher aids that help in handling kids. Again, a play class with kids running around and shouting is something challenging to deal with.
Above all these, I saw a development in my daughter. She has no playmates around and going to Gymboree taught her how to interact with other kids her age. And I’m even proud of my little girl because she participated in all the activities and did not throw any tantrums every class.
