MMIA: Momma Missing in Action | The Momma Chronicles

Wow. It’s been a while since I last blogged about my (mis)adventures. I have difficulty juggling kids, online work and even the household. So, what’s up with me lately?

1. Valentine’s Day.

Ours wasn’t a fancy one. No dinner at expensive restaurants, no flowers and chocolates, just us celebrating Hearts Day as a family. I decided to cook dinner and prepared Cheesy Bacon Baked Potatoes, Garlic Rosemary Chicken (get the recipe here) and baked Moist Chocolate Cake. My eldest helped me out in the baking process, so you can just imagine how messy our kitchen looks.

Just excuse the lack of creativity in my chocolate cake. I’m still working on my frosting skills and baking cake is not my forte – yet.

2. New Work.

When I started working online, I had two or more employers all at the same time. I only have one kid at that time so it was pretty easy for me to meet their demands and juggle different employers. When my second child was born, I trimmed my employers down to two then eventually, I have to let go of one and just stick to my high-paying employer, which is not that bad.

Last week, I had an “interview” from an Australian company, inviting me to write for them. After negotiating the terms and the employer seemed understanding and legitimate, I went up for the job. It’s still a writing job but everything is pretty new to me so I accepted it. Yun nga lang, most of my free time is spent on writing instead of blogging. Oh, the life of a freelance writer.

3. New Yaya.

I am maintaining only one helper for the last few months who’s in charge of household work and taking care of the kids when I need to do some errands. Most of the time, I’m the one who takes care of the kids. I told my husband to hire another helper since this current yaya might leave anytime soon (well, you know yayas these days). I finally found one who is helping me with the kids so I can meet deadlines. I just hope this one will stay a bit longer unlike most yayas I had.

4. New business.

Aside from my online work, I also sell linen products online (check out Woodhouse Linens). It’s not that much but it’s giving us some extra in case we’re craving for coffee outside the house or takeout when we are too lazy to cook. Finally, my husband decided that we should start selling dresses (and eventually baby clothes) and see how it works. We’re still working on it and already in the process of designing and manufacturing the clothes. Oh, if you could help me come up with a name, I would really love it. We’re launching in two weeks time and we still can’t decide what to call our shop so suggestions are open.

It’s been a pretty busy week but I’m not complaining. I’m just really happy and thankful that new opportunities are coming in and continuously blessing our family.
